? The Quality Education Fund (QEF) organized the Outstanding School Awards (OSA) scheme from 1999 to 2003 to commend outstanding education practices in the schools of Hong Kong , to encourage the sharing of front-line experience, to promote improvement of schools towards excellence, and to distil the success factors of the outstanding schools for wider dissemination.
? A total of 184 schools participated with nominations for 312 awards in the four domains of "Management and Organisation" (Domain 1), "Teaching and Learning" (Domain 2), "Support for Students and School Ethos" (Domain3) and "Students' Attainment" (Domain 4). 21 schools were awarded 24 awards, including 6 Outstanding School Awards and 18 Certificates of Merit. Subsequently, the excellent practices identified in the adjudication process were disseminated to the school sector. A variety of dissemination activities including seminars and sharing have been organized to this effect. In 2003, "Highlight Studies on the Award-winning Schools" in the four domains of the scheme were completed. The studies consolidated the good practices in the schools concerned and produced multimedia packages for the dissemination of the findings to the school sector as a whole. |
